Stitching Freedom

Not everything stays as it was first placed

What remains is held,
worked slowly,
and set down again.

This work is still finding its way
into its own shape.

Not everything holds at first.

Some places loosen.

Some threads are taken out
and placed again.

The stitching did not begin where the fabric had torn.

It began where something could still be held.

Not tightly.
Not all at once.

Just enough
for the next place to take form.

This is not a finished pattern.

It is a way of continuing.
